Meet Chelby
Chelby is a master’s level intern who is aspiring to work with the first responder population. She understands the significant job stress as she has performed as a first responder for 14 years. She was EMS and fire certified in 2011 and has since worked for select departments in rural areas. She has been full time, part time, and currently runs volunteer in her community so she can focus on her studies. Chelby is also a first responder spouse, giving her first-hand experience to not only the trials of the job, but the struggles of being a significant other to a first responder as well. In this, she has made it her mission to help heal first responder couples and families with knowledge and experience from both ends of the spectrum. She believes that every first responder and first responder household is benefited from a strong working relationship with the family. She enjoys teaching about mental health, coaching her children’s sports, reading spicy books, and cooking for large groups of people. In her spare time she likes to spend time with family and friends and assists her husband with woodworking projects and remodels.
